The Wall that Divides
The apostle Paul pictured humanity divided by walls of hostility (Eph. 2:14). He pictured the waist-high barrier
in the temple courtyard in Jerusalem that separated gentile visitors from the areas where Jews could go.
Today, as in the first century, walls of suspicion divide the world into a crazy quilt of racial pride and rejection.
Racial hatred is not fundamentally a problem of education, sociology, or politics. Racial hatred is fundamentally
a spiritual problem. We will never face it and conquer it until we recognize its sinful character.
