We sing that old hymn, “Blest Be the Tie That Binds,” without asking often what that tie is. In the first verse
it is identified as “the fellowship of kindred minds.” The longer we walk with the Lord Jesus under the leadership
of the Spirit of God, the more we understand that the fellowship of kindred minds has little, if anything, to do
with similarities in economic status, educational background, or national origin.
The preceding chapters focused on the spiritual forces that try to divide the body of Christ along ethnic lines.
The response to these forces must primarily be spiritual as well. Jesus is the great Reconciler. The Holy Spirit
is the great Comforter. The church is God's great new creation in which all men are made new and made one in Christ.
No human organization will ever do what the church can do to unite the divided. As much as it depends on our obedience,
let's be sure the church does what it must.
